The Retail Merchandiser is responsible for planning and executing all aspects of the retail merchandising strategy. This includes creating and maintaining product displays, developing promotional plans, managing inventory levels, and ensuring that products are priced correctly. The Retail Merchandiser must be able to work independently and be self-motivated. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.

Retail Merchandiser Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute merchandise displays that are customerfriendly and promote sales.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and stockroom.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate needs to store management or corporate office.
  • Assist customers with purchasing decisions, product questions, and returns/exchanges.
  • Stay upto-date on current trends, seasonal merchandise, and promotions.
  • Complete all required reports in a timely manner (e.g., daily sales report, planogram compliance report).
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times

Objectives

  • To develop and execute merchandise plans that align with the overall store strategy while maximizing sales and profits
  • To create a visually appealing and cohesive store design that is reflective of the brand identity
  • To oversee all aspects of product merchandising including but not limited to: product selection, inventory management, pricing, promotions, display planning, etc.
  • To collaborate closely with other members of the retail team such as buyers, planners, Visual Merchandisers, Store Managers, etc. to ensure all merchandise plans are executed flawlessly
  • To stay up-to-date on current trends within the fashion industry and understand how they can be applied to merchandise assortment and visual presentation
