An HR Director is responsible for the day-to-day activities of HR personnel. They oversee recruitment and hiring, training and development, compensation and benefits, and employee relations. Also, they review employment contracts and oversee benefits such as insurance, retirement plans, and disability plans.

HR Director Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive Human Resources strategies, policies, and procedures to support the company's business objectives, while maintaining a healthy corporate culture and work environment
  • Manage employee relations, including disciplinary procedures and labor relations
  • Provide guidance, training, and coaching to managers, supervisors, and subordinates on company policies and programs
  • Develop recruiting strategies for job announcements, postings, and job fairs to attract top candidates
  • Develop and implement compensation and benefits programs, and maintain compliance with state and federal laws
  • Manage performance appraisals and employee development programs
  • Provide customer service to employees
  • Provide expert HR guidance
  • Perform other duties as directed

 

 

Objectives

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance and support to employee relations, conflict resolution, payroll, employee benefits, and payroll processing
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process
  • Work with managers to develop performance appraisals and employee reviews
  • Manage performance standards, rewards and recognition programs, and employee assistance programs
  • Provide training, coaching, and counseling to employees
  • Handle employee complaints and grievances
  • Investigate and resolve personnel issues
  • Provide daytoday training and orientation for new employees
  • Conduct exit interviews after employees leave the company
  • Manage job applicant and employee file records

HR Director Skills Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree and eight years’ experience in human resources, or a related field
  • Preferably will be a certified HR professional (or working towards certification)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to build and manage teams
  • Experience in managing human resources in a fast paced, challenging environment
