Travel Consultant Job Responsibilities

  • Arrange travel for business and vacation customers
  • Determine destination, modes of transportation, travel dates, costs and accommodations
  • Plan and sell transportation and accommodations using knowledge of travel routes
  • Calculate total travel costs and hand out final itinerary to customer
  • Answer questions regarding travel regulations, passports and visas

Objectives

  • To provide excellent customer service to clients in order to ensure their satisfaction with the travel planning process.
  • To work with clients to determine their travel needs and preferences, and develop customized travel itineraries that meet their requirements.
  • To research various destination options and make recommendations based on client’s needs and interests.
  • To book transportation, accommodation, and other necessary arrangements for clients’ trips.
  • To keep upto-date on the latest developments in the travel industry in order to better serve clients’ needs and offer them new travel opportunities.

Travel Consultant Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • Skills:
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven sales ability
  • High level of computer literacy, including experience with booking systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Qualifications:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in tourism or travel would be highly regarded but is not essential.
  • Industry qualifications such as a Certificate III in Travel may also be beneficial.
