The Ramp Agent is responsible for loading and unloading cargo on and off the aircraft. They are also responsible for towing the aircraft to and from the gate. Other duties include de-icing, cleaning, and servicing the aircraft.

  • Unload and sort incoming baggage
  • Load outgoing baggage onto planes
  • Operate ground equipment such as tugs and belt loaders
  • Direct aircraft for takeoff and gate approach
  • Perform visual checks of aircraft
  • Deice planes when necessary
  • Salting and snow removal from runway and taxiway

Ramp Agent Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • There are no formal qualifications required to become a ramp agent, but most employers will require applicants to have a high school diploma or equivalent. Some onthe-job training may be provided by the employer. Ramp agents need to be able to lift heavy objects and be comfortable working in all weather conditions.
