The Industrial Truck and Tractor Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of industrial trucks and tractors. They must be able to safely operate the equipment in a variety of settings, including warehouses, construction sites, and manufacturing facilities. The Industrial Truck and Tractor Operator is responsible for inspecting the equipment before each use, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks. They must also be able to troubleshoot any problems that may arise with the equipment.

Industrial Truck and Tractor Operator Job Responsibilities

  • Safely operate an industrial truck or tractor to move materials around a warehouse, construction site, or other large area.
  • Follow all safety regulations and guidelines while operating the vehicle.
  • Load and unload materials onto the truck or tractor as needed.
  • Transport materials to designated locations within the warehouse or construction site.
  • Keep track of how much material is being transported and where it is being taken to ensure accuracy in inventory levels.
  • Report any accidents or incidents that occur while operating the truck or tractor to a supervisor immediately

Objectives

  • To safely and efficiently operate a variety of industrial trucks and tractors in order to move materials, equipment, and products around a facility or work site.
  • To load and unload trucks and trailers.
  • To operate Forklifts, Frontend Loaders, Bobcats, Skid Steers, Backhoes, Excavators, Bulldozers, Graders, and other heavy duty equipment.

Industrial Truck and Tractor Operator Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • There are no formal education requirements for industrial truck and tractor operators. However, most employers prefer to hire candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent. Some employers may require operators to complete a training program before being allowed to operate their equipment.
