Metal Stud Framer Job Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints or drawings to determine the type of trusses, joists, studs, or other structural members required
  • Mark cutting lines on materials using pencil, chalk, paint, or other appropriate markers
  • Measure and cut lumber and metal studs to specified dimensions using power saws or hand tools
  • Assemble wood or metal framing members by nailing or screwing them together
  • Build temporary wooden supports to hold up ceilings or walls during construction
  • Install drywall sheets onto metal stud framing
