The Lead Carpenter is responsible for the coordination and execution of all carpentry work on site. He/she will lead a team of carpenters and oversee the completion of all tasks related to the construction, repair, and maintenance of buildings, fixtures, and other structures. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in carpentry work, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.

Lead Carpenter Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of carpenters
  • Plan, lay out, and construct wooden frameworks and structures according to specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
  • Inspect roofs, floors, walls, ceilings, windows, doors, frames, trimwork, stairs, railings etc. for conformance to building codes and safety regulations
  • Install insulation in walls or ceilings
  • Build scaffolding and ladders for use in construction projects
  • Select tools , equipment ,and materials from storage areas
  • Operate power saws , jointers , shapers , routers , sanders other woodworking machines

Lead Carpenter Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • A minimum of 4 years experience as a journeyman carpenter is required.
  • Leadership and supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings is necessary.
  • A valid driver's license and own transportation are required.
