The School Nurse is a registered professional nurse who is responsible for the promotion of health and safety of students, staff and families in the school community. The nurse provides direct nursing care to students and staff, as well as health education and screenings. The nurse also coordinates with outside agencies to ensure that students with chronic health conditions receive the necessary services.

School Nurse Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • A school nurse must be a registered nurse (RN) with a valid state license. Additionally, school nurses must be able to effectively communicate with parents, teachers, and other school staff.
