The Resident Assistant (RA) is a student leader who serves as a resource, advocate and role model for residents. The RA creates a welcoming and inclusive community that promotes student success and personal growth. RAs are expected to uphold community standards, develop positive relationships with residents, provide support and referrals as needed, facilitate community building initiatives, and plan and implement educational and social programming.

Resident Assistant Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource and support for residents
  • Promote community living and involvement among residents
  • Help create and maintain a positive, safe, and welcoming environment for all residents
  • Assist with planning and implementing programs and activities for residents
  • Serve on duty as needed, including overnight shifts
  • Respond to emergencies in the building as needed
