The Pediatric Medical Assistant will provide support to the medical staff in the care of pediatric patients. They will be responsible for taking vital signs, documenting patient history, preparing patients for exams and procedures, and providing assistance during office hours. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a caring demeanor, and experience working with children.

Pediatric Medical Assistant Job Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative and clinical tasks to support the work of pediatricians.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, taking their histories and measuring their vital signs.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures, including administering medications and vaccinations.
  • Help care for hospitalized children, providing emotional support to families.

  • The skills and qualifications needed for the role of Pediatric Medical Assistant include: excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; strong organizational skills; the ability to multitask; a caring and compassionate nature; good manual dexterity; and basic computer skills. In addition, most employers will require that candidates have completed an accredited medical assistant program and have certification from an accredited organization such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
