Patent Paralegal Job Description Template

Patent Paralegal Job Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in the preparation and filing of patent applications with the USPTO.
  • Conduct research on patentability, freedom to operate, and prior art.
  • Prepare and coordinate responses to office actions from the USPTO.
  • Monitor deadlines and keep clients updated on the status of their applications.
  • Handle all administrative aspects of patent prosecution, including docketing, correspondence, and file maintenance

  • To perform legal research on patentability, infringement, and validity issues.
  • To prepare and file documents with the USPTO, including applications, responses to office actions, information disclosure statements, assignments, and maintenance fees.
  • To maintain communication with clients regarding the status of their patent applications and other matters related to their intellectual property portfolio.
  • To keep abreast of changes in patent law and practice, and share this knowledge with others in the firm.
