The Oral Surgery Assistant is responsible for providing direct patient care in the oral surgery setting. They will work closely with the surgeon to provide preoperative, operative, and postoperative care to patients. The Oral Surgery Assistant will also take x-rays, prepare instruments, and maintain a sterile environment. They must have excellent communication skills and be able to effectively educate patients on their oral health.

Oral Surgery Assistant Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for oral surgery procedures by cleaning the area and making sure they are comfortable
  • Assist the surgeon during procedures by handing them instruments and tools as needed
  • Help to monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and report any changes to the surgeon or anesthesia team
  • After surgery, assist in transporting patients to the recovery area and provide postoperative care as directed

Oral Surgery Assistant Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a dental assisting program
