The Licensed Professional Counselor will provide individual, couples, and family counseling services to clients. The counselor will assess the client’s needs and create a treatment plan. The counselor will also provide crisis intervention services as needed. Other duties include maintaining clinical records and participating in case conferences. The counselor will maintain a professional relationship with the client and adhere to all ethical guidelines set forth by the American Counseling Association.

Licensed Professional Counselor Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • The skills and qualifications needed for the role of Licensed Professional Counselor include: a Master’s degree in counseling or a related field; completion of an accredited counseling program; passing scores on the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCE) and/or the State Board Exam; and two years of postgraduate professional experience. In addition, counselors must adhere to strict ethical guidelines set forth by their state licensing board.
