The Cancer Registrar will work closely with the medical staff to ensure accuracy and completeness of data. The position requires certification through the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA).

Cancer Registrar Job Responsibilities

  • Review medical records for completeness and accuracy
  • Abstract cancer data from medical records according to established guidelines
  • Enter cancer data into a central registry database
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Provide cancer statistics and reports to health care professionals, researchers, and the general public
  • Assist with cancer research projects by identifying potential study participants and collecting data
  • Educate health care professionals and the public about cancer registration
