The Audiologist will provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with hearing, balance, and other auditory disorders. They will also work with individuals who have communication problems related to hearing loss. The Audiologist will develop treatment plans and make recommendations for amplification, assistive listening devices, and other auditory rehabilitation services. They will also provide counseling for patients and their families on how to cope with hearing loss.

Audiologist Job Responsibilities

  • Audiologists are responsible for assessing and diagnosing hearing and balance disorders in patients of all ages.
  • They use a variety of tests and tools to identify the nature and severity of the disorder, as well as to rule out other potential causes.
  • Once a diagnosis is made, audiologists develop treatment plans that may include hearing aids, cochlear implants, or other assistive devices. They also provide counseling and support to patients and their families to help them adjust to living with a hearing loss.
  • In addition to working with individual patients, audiologists also play an important role in conducting research on hearing disorders and developing new treatments.

  • To provide counseling and education to patients and their families regarding hearing loss, its effects, and management options.
  • To perform diagnostic audiometric testing using both behavioral and physiological measures in order to identify the type, degree, and configuration of hearing loss.
  • To administer specialized tests such as auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing or otoacoustic emission (OAE) testing in order to further characterize hearing loss or rule out other conditions.
  • To develop individualized treatment plans for patients based on the results of diagnostic testing and patient goals/needs.
  • To provide ongoing care and support to patients throughout the course of their treatment, including regular checkups and adjustments to amplification devices as needed.

  • A bachelor's degree in audiology from an accredited university.
  • A Master's degree or PhD in audiology from an accredited university.
