The Utility Worker is responsible for performing a variety of general labor tasks including loading and unloading materials, digging trenches, setting up and tearing down equipment, and cleaning up job sites. The Utility Worker must be able to lift heavy objects and work in all weather conditions.

Utility Worker Job Responsibilities

  • Reads water meters and records consumption of water by customers.
  • Investigates complaints of high water bills, unusual usage, or leaks.
  • Replaces old or damaged water meters with new ones.
  • Flushes hydrants to maintain proper water flow and pressure in the system.
  • Opens and closes valves to regulate flow of water through the system.
  • Inspects equipment and pipes for leaks, corrosion, or other damage.
