The Senior Architect is responsible for providing high-level technical expertise and direction in the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide architectures. They work with other architects and engineering teams to ensure that all systems are designed and built to meet business requirements. The Senior Architect also reviews code changes to ensure they are in line with company standards.

Senior Architect Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design of new buildings or the renovation and expansion of existing ones.
  • Develops preliminary concepts and overall layouts, recommends modifications to improve efficiency and aesthetics.
  • Prepares detailed construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinates with other professionals such as engineers, landscape architects, surveyors, and city planners during the planning and development stages of a project.
  • Inspects construction sites to monitor progress and ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
  • May also be involved in business development activities such as client presentations and proposal writing

Senior Architect Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • The skills and qualifications needed for the role of Senior Architect include:
  • A minimum of five years professional experience in an architectural practice
  • Registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB) or equivalent in the UK, EU or internationally
  • Hold a recognized professional qualification in architecture such as RIBA Part III, Master of Architecture or similar
  • Demonstrable experience leading and delivering successful projects, ideally within healthcare, education or commercial sectors
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships internally and externally
