MIG Welder Job Description Template
The MIG Welder will be responsible for the operation of welding equipment to fuse metal parts together. They will also be responsible for setting up the equipment and maintaining a safe work area. The MIG Welder will need to have experience in welding, as well as knowledge of safety procedures.
MIG Welder Job Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
- Operate welding machines to fuse metal segments together
- Monitor the welding process to avoid overheating of metals or expansion of materials
- Maintain equipment and tools in a safe and operable condition
- Inspect completed welds to check their strength and appearance
Objectives
- To operate welding equipment in order to weld metal parts together
- To set up welding equipment and select the appropriate settings according to the type of metal being welded and the desired results
- To interpret blueprints or other specifications in order to determine the best welding techniques to use
- To guide and direct assistants who may be helping with the welding process
- To monitor the welding process and make adjustments as necessary in order to ensure a high quality weld
MIG Welder Job Skills & Qualifications Needed
- A minimum of two years welding experience is required.
- Must be able to pass a welding test.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Welding certification is a plus.
