A Janitor is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the public areas of a building. This includes sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and emptying trash cans. A Janitor may also be responsible for setting up and breaking down event spaces, as well as cleaning bathrooms and kitchens.
Janitor Job Responsibilities

Objectives
- To keep the premises clean and tidy at all times.
- To perform general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting and vacuuming on a daily basis.
- To empty rubbish bins and dispose of waste in a safe and hygienic manner.
- To maintain the cleanliness of toilets and washrooms, including replenishing supplies such as soap, paper towels and toilet tissue as needed.
- To clean windows, mirrors and other glass surfaces on a regular basis.
- To undertake special cleaning projects as required from time to time, such as deepcleaning carpets or polishing floors
Janitor Job Skills & Qualifications Needed
- The skills and qualifications needed for the role of janitor are a high school diploma or equivalent, physical strength and stamina, good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to follow instructions, and attention to detail.
