Auto Electrician Job Description template
An Auto Electrician mainly works on car engines, replacing parts and wiring the vehicle. They are responsible for diagnosing electrical issues, repairing and installing wiring and other car parts, and troubleshooting issues and repairing them where necessary. Auto Electrician also has to work with a team of other mechanics and other auto electricians, making sure that quality of the wiring is high and with keeping the vehicles working efficiently.
Auto Electrician Responsibilities
- Install car electrical systems, including electrical wiring and wiring harnesses, alternators, starters, voltage regulators, and charging systems, and test and diagnose electrical systems
- Integrate electrical features into vehicles, such as auxiliary power units, remote starters, lane departure warning systems, anti lock braking systems, and navigation systems
- Repair and install electrical parts such as alternators, starter motors, and air conditioning compressors
- Install aftermarket wiring and electrical parts, such as radar detectors and navigation systems
- Complete assigned work orders, paperwork, service requests, and purchase orders

Auto Electrician Skills Needed
- Proven experience working on electrical wiring in vehicle electrical systems
- Knowledge of computer systems used to operate vehicle electrical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and components
- Knowledge of shop safety practices and shop equipment
- Highly proficient in use of hand and power tools
- Ability to troubleshoot
