The Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS) position is a direct support professional role within a mental health setting. The TSS provides one-on-one support and assists clients in developing skills to manage their mental health symptoms and improve their overall functioning. The TSS works closely with the client’s treatment team to ensure that all services are coordinated and meet the client’s individual needs. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently.

Therapeutic Support Staff Job Responsibilities

Objectives

  • To provide therapeutic support to clients in order to help them cope with and recover from mental health issues.
  • To work closely with clients to assess their needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • To provide counseling and therapy to clients in individual, family, or group settings.
  • To collaborate with other members of the treatment team to ensure that clients receive comprehensive care.
  • To educate clients and their families about mental health issues and how to manage them.

Therapeutic Support Staff Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Completion of an accredited Therapeutic Support Staff training program is preferred.
  • One year experience working with children and adolescents in a mental health setting is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation is required.
