Visual Effects Artist Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the VFX Supervisor to create visual effects for a project
  • Understand the creative and technical requirements of the project and how to best execute them
  • Generate ideas and concepts for visual effects shots, including previsualization
  • Create 2D and 3D elements as needed using various software programs
  • Composite 2D and 3D elements together to create the final shot
  • Balance artistic expression with efficient workflow in order to meet deadlines
  • Stay upto-date on latest VFX technologies and trends

  • To create innovative and visually stunning visual effects that help tell a story and engage audiences.
  • To work with directors, producers, and other artists to conceptualize, design, and execute visual effects for film, television, video games, commercials, and other media.
  • To use a variety of software programs to create 2D and 3D animations, motion graphics, digital matte paintings, compositing effects, and more.
  • To have a strong understanding of the principles of lighting, color theory, anatomy, physics, and perspective in order to create realistic or surrealistic effects as needed.
  • To be able to troubleshoot technical issues related to visual effects production and postproduction workflows.
