The Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching individuals of all ages how to swim. They must be able to effectively communicate with their students and tailor their instruction to each individual’s needs and abilities. The Swim Instructor must also be able to maintain a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all students.

Swim Instructor Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach swim lessons to individuals or groups
  • Assess students' swimming abilities and level of comfort in the water, and plan lessons accordingly
  • Create a positive and enjoyable learning environment for students
  • Encourage students to set and achieve goals
  • Provide feedback to students on their progress
  • Stay up to date on new teaching methods and techniques

Swim Instructor Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • The skills and qualifications needed for the role of swim instructor include: excellent communication and interpersonal skills, patience, good organizational skills, physical stamina, and a passion for working with children. In addition, swim instructors should be certified in CPR and First Aid.
