The Finance Manager has overall responsibility for the financial management of an organization. This role handles all accounting, management information, and financial reporting. The Finance Manager also identifies opportunities for cost reduction, revenue generation, and capital expenditures. This individual has the interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain good relationships with external and internal customers and colleagues.

Financial Manager Responsibilities

  • Manage cash flow, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions including invoicing, payment, and reconciliation
  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial reports, including profit and loss (P&L), cash flow, balance sheets, and debt service coverage ratio
  • Prepare all financial documents and reports for internal and external use, including audits and investor presentations
  • Provide financial and operational support to project managers, including developing and monitoring budgets, analyzing variances, and providing financial projections
  • Assist in the development of financial grants, including preparing budgets, preparing data, and administering programs
  • Manage the inventory and purchasing of construction materials and equipment
  • Prepare and submit all tax reports, including federal, state, and local tax filings
  • Work with accounting, human resources, and other departments to complete ad hoc requests for information and reports

Objectives

  • Prepare and review budgets, reports, and financial statements
  • Manage capital projects, including budgeting and forecasting
  • Develop and implement plans for purchasing supplies, equipment, and inventory
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of staff to determine areas of strength, improvement, and improvement
  • Develop training programs for employees to improve employee performance
  • Work closely with new hire orientation program, ensuring they are fully trained

Financial Manager Skills Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field
  • 2+ years experience in finance or accounting; experience in a real estate or construction environment a plus
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word preferred
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
